Not yet. I wish I could have made it to Yellow River but I do want to tag along with some more experienced hangers this upcoming year if we can.

Looks like there are several of us in the East Central part of Iowa. I'm in Cedar Rapids myself.

I've been mostly camping with Boy Scouts outings, and took a hammock for the first time last year on one of the trips. I definitely don't want to go to ground again after having a couple of lovely nights hanging from the trees.

I'm looking at planning my first camping trip, rather than just going along on the trips planned by my son's Pack/Troop. Anyone know if there are any spots at Lake McBride or the Palisades have any good spots for Hammock Camping? I'm planning to take a friend and her son along to see if we can get them hooked on camping as well. I'd be the only one in a hammock as I only have extra tent gear for the time being. Any other spots in the area I should look at that wouldn't be a significant drive from Cedar Rapids?

My wife and I live in Mason City. Our favorite place is Yellow River. Plenty of spots to hang on 2 of the 4 sites. It's probably a little drive for you, it's 2ish hours for us.
