    Different color kevlar huggers?

Sorry if this has been posted before but I couldn't find it with the search function.

I recently bought some kevlar huggers and they are great; however after seeing them in a picture of my campsite the bright yellow really seemed to clash with the rest of the scenery. I know that may seem rather picky to some, but it kind of bothered me. Dutch notes that they don't dye very well and of course he is correct (believe me I tried.) Anyway, I was walking through walmart and saw a king size black Sharpie brand permanent marker and the wheels started turning. Long story short... it worked perfectly. It only took about 1 minute to color both sides of each strap with the extra wide tip sharpie and it looks great without any bleeding. So if the yellow bothers you, just grab marker and go to town.

I'm not 100% positive on this, but if it rains and they get wet, won't the color bleed a little and stain anything it comes in contact with while stored in your bag?

I let them sit/dry overnight and then soaked them and laid them out on paper towels and there was no bleeding. I'm going to hang them in the back yard with a load on it and see what happens overnight. There is rain in the forecast.

Well that stinks! I took a picture of what they look like now and I'll take some more pictures tomorrow and then after my 4 night trip this weekend to compare. Fingers crossed.

It's hard to tell in the picture but you can definitely see the striping in person where the marlinspike hitch was.

Kevlar "sun tans." It turn a golden brown over time. Areas not exposed to the sun leave "swimsuit lines." It all fades together over time, just like skin.

Kevlar can be found in colors - if there is enough demand for strap manufacturers to weave it out of different yarn:

    http://www.dupont.com/products-and-s...ut-yellow.html

DuPont Protection Technologies announced today that it is increasing its capacity to produce specialty colored DuPont™ Kevlar® yarn. This is in response to growing demand from customers for colored yarns used in a range of thermal, cut protection and composites for consumer and industrial applications.

DuPont, the world’s only producer of Kevlar®, offers a wide selection of colored para-aramid yarns. In addition to its natural yellow color, Kevlar® also is available in black, red, orange, green and blue and offers color innovation through collaborative science.

Wonder what a minimum order for one of the vendors looks like and if there is enough demand.
