Video: Paddling Algonquin Prov. Park 2015

This is from last July and I just got around to finishing the video. This was a 7 day trip that all looked quite reasonable from the comfort of a desk chair, but the time to cover that much ground was more than predicted. It was beautiful country but a little less time to relax than I prefer. There was actually quite a sense of accomplishment to have covered so much ground. Between my wife hurting her foot and by buddy battling Lyme disease and me just being generally lazy I thought we did really well. Algonquin might be our new favorite paddling destination.

    Good luck,

Very nice. Been years since I was there. Need to go back.

I remember reading about this trip. Looking forward to watching this after I get the kids to bed.

It's still on my To-Do list. Hopefully this year. Maybe in the Fall to see some of that amazing foliage.

Good job on the video. That looks like a fun trip except for the portage time. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks DuctTape, I hadn't been there since maybe 2000-2002-ish was definitely worth the return.

Didn't have much time to film while out there so it's little more than a fancy slide show.

The place would be incredible in the Fall.

Thank you, lots of portages for sure, we will seek fewer in the future.

Great video. Thanks for posting! i stayed at that island campsite in White Trout a few weeks before you. it sure is a beauty. I had a beaver strut right up the hill, right through the campsite and down the other side of the hill by the staircase! The other site i recognize is the one on McIntosh with the stump that's been chainsawed into a chair. Paddled by there. I know the Easter Great Lakes (EGL) Hammock Hangers stayed there last fall and raved about it, too. So it looks like you picked your campsites well! Hope your wife's ankle got better quickly. How did you like the Swift Prospector canoe?

Thanks Sturgeon. I seems like you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a nice site in that park. Believe it or not my wife is still having some trouble with her foot, turn out she tore a muscle, she gets around fine, just not back to 100% yet.
I really liked that Prospector, in fact it was all I could do to resist buying one immediately after the trip. It wasn't the fastest canoe I ever paddled but it felt rock solid and turned much better than my Spirit II and did really well in big waves. I'd like to try out a Novacraft Prospector too sometime for comparisons sake, but I'm not sure how long I can go on living without a Prospector.
    Good luck,

awesome vid, I'm jealous. I've been in a canoe since I was 10, but have never over-nighted. We're planning on trying it this summer. We actually did our longest trip yet last summer, 18 miles in 6 hours, I couldn't believe how sensitive my body got after about 4 hours, every bump, rock etc made me jump outta my skin.

Glad everyone made it out alive, hope your wife is feeling better soon. That would ruin a trip for me I think, worrying about how she was feeling if she hurt herself.

Here's the kind of paddling we do here, with my youngest son and his friends...
