How to fix uneven amsteel length

I put up my new Ridgerunner yesterday and noticed that there was a big tilt to the right. I couldn't figure out what the problem was until this morning when I squared up the metal pieces where the poles go and ran my fingers up the amsteel to see that the piece on the right is longer than the left. No matter how I loosen and retighten the rope, it just won't line up correctly. What do I do?!

I'd email warbonnet. I'm sure they'll make food on a mistake. While waiting for a reply you can take up slack in the longer one with a carabiner. Open the gate, and wrap the cord along the long axis a few turns, and close the gate. You can get several inches that way.

Take up the slack and even out the amsteel coming from the RR where it meets the straps on the suspension. On the metal piece where the amsteel from straps meet the amsteel fro RR. I just cannot see how that would not solve your problem.

When I even it up where you are saying and pull tight to square it up it just stays the same. It's a continuous loop at the ends where it attaches, so when you pull tight it doesn't change anything because the length of the actual amsteel lines are different. I know this makes no sense, I just can't figure out how to describe it to you.

They are just spliced dogbones. It would be pretty easy to undo the splice at one end and make it a little shorter.

Search youtube for how to do a single sided locked brummel. Use a strand of heavy gauge wire as a fid.

Splicing is easy, and fun. It'll open up a whole new world to adjusting and making your own gear.

Don't have a RR so I don't know how the dogbones are connected to the hardware. Are they larksheaded? If so, I don't think the OP need to do the locked brummel from just a free end. I know some beginners are intimidated by that one. With any luck it's just a matter of redoing the spliced eye (with l-b) on one end the most straightforward way.

(I'm with you, splicing is enjoyable. Thinking about relearning and getting good at splicing double braid to be able to tackle some Spiderline.)

Just loosen up the larkshead knot on the buckle and even them out.......
Here is a picture of mine where the two suspensions meet.

Shug, I tried to do that for about a half hour and they won't even out. The two lines are different lengths. When I tighten the knot back up after evening them out, it goes back to being uneven as soon as it's tight again.
