I was going to set up my hammock for a good test run of winter gear but decided against it with the blizzard conditions. At 16.5 inches we are not even 1/2 way through the storm yet and now have 45MPH winds blowing the snow around. Temps are 22F w/o wind chill. Too cold for this southern girl to want to be out in.

If I didnt make our little rat terrier go down off the porch she would go right outside the door, she always scowls at me on cold mornings.

Snow is getting a little deep in the driveway..the Boston Terrier is not happy, the Pointer is loving it. Getting a chance to use my snowshoes around the property at least.

I told my son to wake me at 8 am, so he woke me at 11:30 am. I took a picture around midnight last night as the snow was just getting started.

And here's what it looks like now.

    IMG_0045.jpg

My new neighbors were the only people on the street who didn't believe that it was going to flood. They left their work vehicle and a pickup in their driveway, and the vehicles survived. We'll see how they do in the next two high tides.

    IMG_0047.jpg

My son and I had thirty minutes of pure enjoyment watching the neighbor demonstrate how to get that pickup truck out of the driveway without snow shovels. Back and forth he went, ramming the snow with his pickup truck. It was hilarious! I'm personally shocked that he finally got the truck out. I'm even more shocked that he was ignorant enough to use the truck as a battering ram for 30 minutes. I had doubts about his intelligence before; now I have none.

I had my coffee and a piece of cornbread with jalapeno jelly - now trying to find the motivation to go shovel the driveway!

WTF??? My new neighbors have snow shovels. They could have shoveled out the pickup truck in 15 minutes, but it was more fun to use the pickup truck as a battering ram for 30 minutes.

I use my honda atv with a 50"snow blade on my 200yd driveway and it takes about 40 minutes to clear it. No shovel for me! I feel your pain with all that snow. Pace yourself.

Hung out here in Northern Vt. No snow, no wind and a beautiful moon. It got down to -2 so it wasn't bad. Had my Zero Degree plus 1 Incubator and Burrow quilts. Got a little chilly at 5am with my last nature call but keep an old sweater in the hammock for just these occasions. Had a couple of deer walk by in the night. Hanging out tonight and it may get colder. I'm going to try using my black mss bag combined with my top quilt to see how that works out. I tried it for a little while this morning and it seemed to work fine. I also put shock chords on my Superfly for the tie downs and I think I prefer just normal cord to get the tightness I like in my tarp. The only problem I had at the end was keeping my nose warm. Finally put two baklava's on and that worked. Glad I watched Shug's video's they gave me a head start for cold weather camping. My sister's think I'm loony! My wife knows I'm loony and I like it that way. Take care and everyone stay safe.

Don't ya know that's how you warm the truck up in the morning?
