I opted for my 1986 North Face bombproof 2-man tent for the weekend. I have my hammock and UQ if I get brave. I despise being cold.

So on the ground you still need pads. So, use them in the hammock and try it out. But definitely need the back up plan. The forecast isn't always right and it could be even colder, of course.

I am not familiar with KAQ but I would definitely supplement the quilt with a pad. I did this just the other night when I slept out in my yard. It got to about 18 or so and my bum, and only my bum, started to get nice and cold through my EE UQ. I went inside and grabbed my Therm-a-Rest Trail Lite and slept great. First time I had tried a pad in a hammock and with it barely inflated I was surprised how comfy it was. Plus, it added a ton of warmth.

My KAQ is 4-season, and I would not push mine very much further than those temps...
