===> Jerry, this is an amazing hang! Tell your wife there are cabins available for non-hangers, and the whole weekend is just amazing! Bring the girls, too!

Echoing Chazz about the awesomeness of this hang. I'm really looking forward to seeing everybody there again.
However... What I'm really hoping 's for a lot more chances to see you guys between now and then.
Even if I don't pull off my Burning Man hang and bonfire here at my home, I'm really hoping some of us might get together for a paddle-in hang up on Flagstaff Lake over the summer.

Any complaints if we redo Wounded Warrior as a charity? We know a guy (and a gal) to make the hand in, making it easier.
I'm giving vendors as much notice as I can, and would like to be able to say which charity we're benefiting.
Good with helping out WW again here.

For the record: Ava's suggestion : The lighthouse preservation society. Located in Dover, NH
===> Now I think Ava's suggestion of The Lighthouse Preservation Society is just a PERFECT group to donate to, since this is a lighthouse tour hang! Good on Ava! If nobody is close by, I would be more than happy to go there and deliver our donation! What a great idea, Ava!

Anyone else have any opinions on the charity? I'm in favor of either Wounded Warrior, or The Lighthouse Preservation Society.
Every Day Above Ground is a Good Day.
HF Terms of Service Ξ For Sale Rules Ξ For Trade Rules Ξ Hammock Jargon (Acronyms)
Which one? There have been 3 or 4 major stories in the last 2 days critical of the organization.
I'm sure many charities face criticism, some valid, some not, but it sounds like there are serious concerns about WWP.
"About 40 percent of the organization’s donations in 2014 were spent on its overhead, or about $124 million, according to the charity-rating group Charity Navigator."
I didn't speak up because I wasn't sure how others would take the news and this may not be the appropriate forum for the discussion.
That said, I'd be more comfortable knowing more of the donations go directly toward helping the intended recipients, and not $40 of each $100 going to excessive spending on travel/PR/litigation/lobbying and brand building. There is a lot of info out there if you want to some reading.
===> I agree. WWP should not be supported at this time. We did give them money last year, but the current investigations by reputable watchdogs, as well as a Mass congressman who is an Iraq vet are opening up many, many disturbing findings.
My vote is for the Lighthouse Preservation Society.
As an old wounded warrior myself, I remember a short poem that seems true every generation, unfortunately:
"God and the Soldier all men adore,
In times of trouble - then no more.
For when trouble is over, and all things righted,
God is forgotten, and the Soldier slighted."
True enough.
