    Jarbidge UQ question

I'm assuming the stuff sack the AHE Jarbidge River UQ ships with is ripstop and not silnylon. How do folks carry this UQ when backpacking? I'm torn between finding a drybag/waterproof compression sack or using the valuable space inside my pack. Thanks!

I believe it's silnylon. I carry mine in the included stuff sac, wouldn't change a thing. If you're worried about gear getting wet buy a pack cover.

My synthetic UQ just get stuffed in under, over, or around the other gear in my pack without any kind of stuff sack. Usually it goes in just after any down items that are stuffed in the bottom of the pack first. This way it all conforms to the pack and contents shape and doesn't waste any space. My down items get put in an oversized, breathable bag and are stuffed in the bottom of the pack before anything else. The bag and the synthetic quilt on top help to protect it.

Agree. Stuff sack I have is silnylon. I keep mine in its stuff sack to. I do pack cover plus line bag with compactor or thick trash bag (unscented of course) when worried about rain or wet environments.

I use a compression bag with a trash compacter bag inside and strap it to the outside of my pack.

Quilts (top & UQ) always go inside, in compression sacks. Hammock in or out depending on the weather. Tarps always on the outside. I never put anything on the outside of a pack that I can't afford to lose or destroy and sleeping insulation is only one notch above essential survival stuff in my mind.

Yep we make our stuff sacks from first quality US made 30d sil coated ripstop nylon. Same exsactly material we make our tarps from. Triple rolled seam along the edge and I personally think they are pretty nice

Thanks for all the great info! I have a good pack cover, but wouldn't consider carrying the quilt on the outside of my pack without a silnylon sack or drybag. Glad to hear the stuffsack is silnylon, pgibson! Leaning toward carrying it loosely inside my pack.

I just cram mine into the pack liner. I don't use a stuff sack. I find it fills the bottom of my pack better.
