    Larger Bishop Bag

Has anybody tried using a larger Bishop bag on their hammock that you could pack your hammock with TQ and UQ still attached and in place when you are packing up? Do you think this would work or be too much of a hassle to deal with? Just thinking, HMMM

I had an old stuff sack that was large enough to fit all three items in. I reinforced an area in the bottom of the sack with Gorilla tape, put a hole through it and then used it as a bishop bag.

It works fine for it's purpose but, if I am hiking what works best for me is using a trash compactor bag in the bottom of my pack and just putting my quilts in it. It allows for the quilts to fill on the air pockets in the bottom as I layer items on top of it. In fact all my items, such as clothing, that I don't want to get wet goes into that compactor bag.

Using the bishop bag approach does make it quicker to hang my hammock and quilts but does take up more space IMO. Everything is a trade off.

Deb, have you tried jamming and cramming the whole TQ/Hammock/UQ unit into the compactor bag? I wonder if this would be the best of both worlds (fills the space in the pack, stays dry, quit to pack and re-deploy) or would create a bird's nest of tangled suspension lines.

Yep, I shove it all in the compactor bag but I do use hair bands around the suspension lines to keep them from getting tangled up. Figure eight around my hand then rubber band/hair band to hold it secure.

I do this using a sleeping bag stuff/compression sack in the summer as a bishop bag - works great - I even keep my sleep clothing/pillow/UQP in it.
You can do this with and right size stuff sack
Easy - just melt a small hole in the bottom (towards the top, not center) for one end of the hammock suspension:
