Three days on the water, in the woods!

Decided to start my trip report the day before the trip! planning is just as fun!

Tomorrow, as soon as we get off work, Charlie (bestie-not dog as was confused in another thread ) are heading out for three days of kayak camping! This is a new one for us so I'm sure that there will be some blunders and possibly some damp gear. Co-captain, Brontë (my chihuahua) insists that he must go along for protection, but Sawyer argues that it's her turn. I'm thinking Brontë will win on credit of his 5+ years of camping and kayaking.

I was gifted an ENO profly tarp for my birthday last night, so I shan't have to worry about needing to wear my poncho as well as use it in the event of a shower. Super excited about that.

Still a bit undecided about insulation. I know my peapod is going. Undecided about ccf pad. Temps in the mid fifties at night but space is at a premium in my kayak. Seems backwards, I'm used to watching weight. Thoughts?

Stove is the sterno can variety. Oatmeal with protein powder and dehydrated fruit is on the menu for breakfast. Dehydrated pasta with basil pesto and dehydrated ground beef for dinner. Cheeses, crackers, and just snack food makes up the lunch menu.

Sawyer mini squeeze covers water filtration.

I can't wait to post pics and hear from you guys! Due to the amount of lurkers and it being the Internet, I'll disclose our location when we return. Brontë says he hammocks better.

Thanks! Temps predicted to drop again at night. Opinions on taking the CCF pad along?

What makes you say that the space in your 'yak is "at a premium"? ...the dog?

My 11 foot Pungo allows me to carry at least twice as much is I take on my back. I can fit in two full-size 30 gallon dry-bags... one front, one back. I've never had either one completely full.
One of the joys of kayak camping to me is taking along food that isn't dehydrated and some campsite luxuries.

I have a cheap Walmart kayak with no storage behind the seat so it's just what I can sit between my feet. I have a 40L dry bag (also Walmart-sigh lol) that fits nicely.

Dog only weighs 7lbs. tiny guy that sits on the back or lays in my lap.

Sounds like a great trip. I would take the CCF pad along if there was any way to do so. It will provide insulation wet, dry, in the hammock, or (OH NO) on the ground if you must.

I'm very excited! But I also hate being cold. My hubby offered to mod my kayak to give more storage.

I could just toss it in a garbage bag and strap t to the top worst case scenario.

we're practically neighbors! I wonder if we will cross paths this weekend? I too will be kayak camping. It's amazing how much can be carried in these things. I live very luxuriously on the water! Enjoy and be safe!

Oops... That's in our "gear shed" aka carport that neither truck will fit in. Hunting stuff gets worked on in there too. Exposed rafters make for great hammock modding.
