A Longer version is great news. At a little over 6'1" I feel I am a bit too tall for my Amok. Really looking forward to the test results.

Any word on a possible release date of the long version? Ready to pull the trigger.

I picked up a like new hammock off of the classified. Got a chance to try it out last night. Definitely easier to side sleep in it compared to a gather end, but I had issues with my knees aching. Found some things to try in this thread, so hopefully next time I can mostly sleep through the night.

Two things I find I do not like about the hammock. The first is the noise. Every time I moved the mat and hammock made a heck of a noise. I used a Exped synmat 7lw FWIW.

The second is ingress/egress. Getting it I found it tricky to get my weight back far enough. With practice I am sure that won't be a problem. Getting out is easy enough, but the footbox gets ground into the dirt. Obvious answer is to hang it higher, but I have short legs, and that will only exaggerate the fun I have getting into the hammock.

The hammock and tarp are extremely well made, and it seems everything has been thought out. Set up was fast, even for a first time user, and takedown in the rain was also simple. I think it is a keeper!

The pads are definitely noisy. For getting in and out put it in chair mode. It puts that front seam in slack mode. Much easier

I will have to give that a try next time I set it up!

I'm also a shorter guy. 5'8 on a good day, and 30" inseam.
I never was able to get into the whole folding the foot end over, and sitting into it the way Jonas does in his vids. I find it just much easier to just straddle it, pull it as far between my legs as I can and lean back

Got a response to my email about release date and my height being a problem.

“At 6.1 the current version should be more than enough. Everyone at the office (4 guys) are between 6.1 and 6.3. However, if you still want to wait around for the long version it will be available for Pre-sale in August, but will not be delivered until 2019. We sent out an email on this to our newsletter subscribers last week about it.”

I just received an email from Amok about a new pad they are selling for their 3.0 hammock.

    It has an RV rating of 3, is 78 x 25 x 3.5 for $99 delivered.

They are finally getting price competitive. I think I will buy one today to check it out.
