So after watching the video for the Tree-O Stack group hang system on Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...?ref=discovery), I have been racking my brain on a possible DYI system that would use the same premise. So here are my initial thoughts and hopefully this wonderful community can help contribute to make this better.
As for the straps I'm thinking 3 or 4 HF 2in tow straps
These: http://t.harborfreight.com/3300-lb-c...-pc-60689.html. I thought going with these I could tighten the easiest, since they are polyester they would stretch the least, and 3300lb working load would be plenty of weight.
The center connection would be a heavy duty steel ring, like (http://www.mountaingear.com/webstore.../R-100724P.htm)
50 kiloNewtons of strength should be fine? They either could connect to the ring via the hooks or maybe larks head the strap to the ring?
As for connecting the hammocks to the straps I am unsure. In a prefect world I'd like to use continuous loops and attach them by tying prusik Knots, that way they could be adjusted easily. However, I'm not certain they will hold without sliding. My other option would be line locks like you would use in a slack line, however that would use up like that would then limit the reach of the straps. Thoughts?
Like I said these are just some initial thoughts and welcome suggestions/ideas on how to make this more functional.
