I bought a Winter Dream tarp on eBay and I'm not sure what material it is made out of. Is there any way I can determine if it's silnylon, silpoly, or membrane? The previous owner doesn't know either.

Maybe contact them and ask if they can tell you how to differentiate between the materials they use to make the tarps. Weight maybe or fabric feel and colors?

Membrane is relatively new, doubt it's that. Weighing it on a scale might help you figure it out?
Deductive reasoning led me to conclude that the material is the same as the SilNylon stuff sack.
Tarps have been shipping with matching stuff sacks for a while now. Easy way to determine 20D Silnylon has a very small ripstop pattern less than 1/8" 20D Silpoly has ripstop pattern larger than 1/8" This is for tarps made in the last 18 months or so. If older than that it may be a early 20d SilNylon or even a 30d SilNylon.
