    warm weather bottom insulation

I just got back from spending 3 day's with our boy scout troop hiking the Zaleski trails in southern Ohio. it was hot and humid all weekend. 90 degs saturday and night time was still 70 until after 2am. then only got down to upper 60's.
What do people use for bottom insulation in temps like that plus what using for top covers.

I took my only UQ with me but it is a HG 0 deg incubator, I just left it pushed over to one side until I got cool on the bottom.
I used a fleece blanket on top but hated that. it did not seem to breath much and felt real clammy with it.

At those temps I do not use bottom insulation, but I sleep very warm. Can use an underquilt protector to block the wind and it should help some.

I haven't had the chance to try it yet but that's what I plan on doing. 80degF would be a coolish summer night here, never below 70degF so I doubt I'll need any actual insulation and figured the UQ protector would act as a wind block if I needed it. As for top insulation, I'd take something like my Kifaru Woobie, maybe my burrow 40 when it arrives but probably wouldn't use it unless it was a cool night with a decent breeze.

Jeeze man I can not imagine nights in the 80's constantly (Well I can i've suffered threw a few here and there) In the sierra's here I don't know if I have ever gone and spent a night up in the mountains where it has been warmer then 50 at night. In fact unless we are in the middle of a massive heat wave (high 90's lul) its almost always in the 40's or lower at night up at the elevations i camp at. I went a full Spring/Summer/Fall without an underquilt when i first started hammocking just using a reflictix pad for nights that were in the low 40's or lower. Anyway for when I do have a warm night now and then I think the idea of an underquilt protector to keep the breeze off would be just about right. But seems like I tend to sleep kinda warm as well, so ymmv

You don't like fleece? I love it. Sometimes I leave my HG 40* Burrow TQ at home and just bring an American Red Cross fleece blanket (a souvenir from Hurricane Sandy). It doesn't pack down as well as the 40* TQ, and it probably weighs more. Fleece ain't as nice as a wool blanket or a down TQ, but it does a pretty good job down to about 50 for me. I've never gotten clammy with fleece.

I use a protector only in those temps and it se to be the right amount. I also use a 30 down sleeping bag as a top quilt and pull it on as it gets cooler on the noght

    thanks for the thoughts sugestions.
I love using my fleece when I'm hanging in the house but after hiking all day and being sweaty it just seemed to make it feel worse to me.
Maybe I just need to give it a few more trys and see then.
I have been looking into an UQ protector for wet weather and now I think it would have a great second use when its hot and dont need UQ.
    thanks again

I have a Poncho Liner (PLUQ) that I made and use another PL on the top when temps are not going to be below 70F. Below 70F I have a 20F JRB Nest that I use on the bottom and just push it to one side under me until the early morning hours when I get chilly. If it is really warm (80's) and humid I have a silk sleeping bag liner that I will use as a TQ and not use a UQ at all.

I use a piece of 100 weight fleece as a sleep sheet. I also have a polyester bed sheet to use as a liner or top cover when the fleece is too warm. Fleece doesn't compress much and can be used under you in the summer. I have slept on fleece with a sheet for a top cover with no problems.

TQ is a either a down 50° by UGQ
    Or a poly bag Liner.

UQ is either a 40 Phoenix by HG
    or a 50° by WL.

I'll Just pull them aside until needed or vent by lowering the suspension on one shoulder.
