For the longest time I've wanted a pair of down pants for winter camping. Most of them that I could find, which there aren't many options available, were way more money than I wanted to spend, being well north of $200+. So with a little time and effort, and a few attempts, I think I'm close to having a working prototype.

15d iLLUME DWR Outer Shell Construction, 10d iLLUME Inner Shell Construction, 4.5 oz HD800GDD, Hip Draw on both Hips, Leg Cuff Draws, 8.50 oz finished weight Next prototype will have reinforced & waterproof shins/knees as well as the seat will have reinforced/waterproof fabric added.

I'd like to ask for some input from everyone, if this is a product you'd be interested in possible buying please make a comment indicating your interest. This will help to give us a gauge on the amount of interest in down insulated pants...

Price point would be $160-$180 depending on size and fill type.

So Paul are you thinking these would be used as insulated underwear to be worn under your pants, Stand alone pants(hiking or around camp), or over pants(hiking or around camp)?

Depending on their intended use would dictate what features would make them standout as must haves.

These would be a great after hike pant. I would definitely wear these around camp or in the hammock during winter camping. Kind of like a down pajama pant. I think some light re-enforcement is need. If the costs stay in the range of $160 - $185 then I'm in for a pair when the go into production.

Might replace a TQ under certain conditions. Looks good.
