Where to hang in lower MI

Looking for a place to hang south of Lansing. Looking to set up a camp and do some day hikes with a group of guys from my church. Some hang and some are ground dwellers. Of course anyone who wanted to tag along would be welcome. Haven't set a date yet looking for sometime early spring.

There's Fort Custer in Battle Creek and Pickney Rec area over toward Ann Arbor. Yankee Springs isn't really south of Lansing but is a good choice also.
    Good luck,

+1 on Waterloo-Pinckney rec area...try Portage lake or Green lake. Portage lake is the trailhead for the 32-36 mile WP trail. Green lake is about as close to the middle of the trail you can get, so you can hike either way during the day and good places to hang, especially campsite #8.
