New forecast shows 2 degrees for friday night. That's plenty of adventure for me. Don't forget your christmas lights and propane heater, Aaron.
Ok, I have the forms in my hand.
We will be officially legal.
I thought I might have a couple leftovers from previous camping so I dug through my desk and sure enough!
I found 3 and we are covered.
These cards also cover dispersed camping but they say to leave them posted at the camp after you leave which is a stipulation I never understood. It goes against the "Leave no trace" idea to leave paper on a tree that probably no one will ever be around to collect.
There are 4 address slots on each form so with 3 forms I have 12 people covered...1. Print all requested information in pencil in plain and legible English. Include the name and complete address of each member of the camping party. Use additional Camp Registration Cards if necessary.
2. Post this card prominently at the campsite before making camp and leave posted upon departure when camping on State-owned land other than State Parks, Recreation Areas, State Forest Campgrounds or State Game Area Campgrounds. DO NOT post on motor home, camper, or trailer; post elsewhere on camping site.
3. Leave this card in campsite at departure.
If we do end up with more than a dozen people I think we can squeeze the names in and hopefully the DNR will forgive our trespasses.. we obviously have made a sincere effort.
I still plan on checking the DNR outpost for these in hopes of replenishing my form stash.
Oh I know what form you're talking about. Not for parking or anything.
I have a whole stack of those for when I'm car camping/hunting around Grayling. Perforated bottom and keep half tied to the tree when I leave. YEAH RIGHT! So some hillbilly can go in and dump a pickup full of trash bags and an old refrigerator right there next to my card so I get a call from the DNR? No thanks. Honestly, I tie it to a tree to be legal while camping, but take everything down when leaving.
Temps looking good, maybe a fresh inch or so of snow this week. Can't wait to meet everyone and hang out in the piney woods!
As usual, I already started getting stuff put together even though it would only take me about 20 minutes to pack. I'm pumped up for this one! Totally new spot for me, over a foot of snow (maybe 3" of fresh stuff), weather looks great and I'm looking forward to another 0° (or colder) test for my 0° quilt set.
I've been doing the same thing today. Made a food run, then after getting a call from Ed (turkey) about how he finished his pulk, I just had to upgrade my harness to the same one he got at Home Depot (they call it a Husky work belt). It's nice getting out to a new place, you'll like it a lot. If anyone is up for it, we'll plan a expedition up to the Honeymoon Cabin and check out the view over the valley.
Yes! A short romp to the other cabin... I'm curious to see if DNR has done anything with it; whether repair or tear down.
When we were there in October, the DNR yellow taped it to keep people out. Foundation posts under the balcony are getting pretty bad, so its unsafe. Curious to see what they'll end up doing. Would be a shame to lose it.
