Depending on when I'd be up for a drive. I've got all sorts of winter gear begging to be used.

Sounds nice. Any chance there'll be any ice-fishing? That would be awesome!

Yes we're looking at Limestone Lake, open for trout year round.

LB and I spent the night out at the lake last weekend and lucked out with the first snowfall of the season.

We plan on taking a trip back once the more snow has fallen to check out the parking situation.
Right now we're looking for suggestions on a date, would probably want to have an open discussion to accommodate as many of you out of town folks so speak up, January? February? March? Dates?
My wife and I are planning a cruse in Feb ( she is not the outdoors type ) Probably the latter half of the month.

Sounds nice. I'll pack my auger!! As for when, any time after Valentine's Day works for me; things can get pretty busy at the office until then.

How about the weekend of March 7th?

I would probably take the Friday off and hang Friday and Saturday nights.
Head up the weekend before and build an igloo. Always nice to have one, makes a great backup shelter.

Let me know what you all think of that weekend.

I've never been to Limestone (our trailer's on Black Donald 5 mins away) but I see that it's about halfway between the highway and Wabun Lake. Is there a road down to it? Trail? Bushwack?

I'd always rather go earlier in the season than too late that I'm sick of winter. Looking at my schedule, I'm away in Costa Rica between Feb 26th and March 12th, so I'd rather do it in Feb sometime if that's possible.

There is a trail (ATV/snowmobile) heading in from the road, it's only around a KM but once you're in there is a lot to explore.

We'll try a juggle the dates to accommodate as many as we can, so kept those suggestions coming.

Just wanted to add my vote for somewhere on the old K&P line near Clyde Lake. It was just beautiful up there last spring and I think it would be a fine place to hang this winter.

P.S. Limestone is definitely one of my favorite places too, especially with the trout fishing.

It is indeed a beautiful place with a snowmobile trail leading in, if I recall correctly there was an area where the trail intersects the road where one could park overnight.
