My wife kicked me out one weekend several years ago and bam, I'm a hanger :)
Double layer Ridgerunner for me. I like the feel and added weight capability as I'm around 200lbs.
Thanks a million.
Guys,
I lost my PC's hard drive with the Briartech Sipsey one page map on it. Do any of you guys still have a valid link to this .pdf? The original link is dead....
Same here. I love my 2 BlackRock down hats. I have a black one and orange one that I wear during hunting season. These are expensive but they are also very comfortable and warm.
The beauty is there are many other hammock and hammock types to try. Gathered end hammocks hurt my back but I like my Warbonnet Ridge Runner so hopefully there's a fit for you out there.
Where's the pic :)
I'd say try it and let us know how this works our for you. In my opinion that's a lot of material to keep organized and gathered end hammocks are a pain to keep everything in alignment to begin with.
Since when is late August cool in Alabama :) You want cool you'll have to shoot for late October/November time frame.
Welcome to HF.
Do you have any pics?
I keep my hammock and everything else I want to keep dry in a pack liner.
What's small about it? I'm 5'8" and 195lbs and it fits me fine. Is it the length or width you consider small?
I tell you he never sleeps. If only everyone's customer service was this good.
Back packing with the "generic hammock chair". That wouldn't be fun. Here's a good list of backpacking chairs.

Yes, I store them on the small posts and when I install them I slide them off install them and slide them back on. These are very easy to use and inexpensive. They fit tight enough that I've not...
Good luck and I wish you well. Are you going to VLog your hike by any chance?
My favorite hammock with a view is my Warbonnet Ridge Runner.
Yea I guess it depends on if you want the doors to completely close. For me the 11' is find with a gap. Shug show it best here:...
Why a 13'. The 11' covers the RR just fine.
I use a Thunderfly with my RR and love it. I also use these to protect the tarp. If you wanted a bit more coverage go for the Mountainfly as it's not much more weight....
These work equally as well for the older version of the Ridge runner.

If you have the older version of the Warbonnet Ridgerunner these will prevent this. They slip on tight and I store them on the pegs when not in use. I've used these for almost two years and no...
I wouldn't worry about the weight as the comfort will more than make up the energy needed to carry the added weight.
Pray a lot and just hope the lightning doesn't strike the trees I'm hanging in and hope there's no destructive winds.
Go to ground is always the last resort field repair. Use it as best you can as a bug netted bivy and hope something doesn't happen on the first day of a multi day trip.
I got it right the first time :) but I still experimented and came back to my original Warbonnet Ridge Runner. Along the way I purchased a Warbonnet Blackbird, Warbonnet Blackbird XLC, a Chameleon,...
If you want isolation simply head south in June and you'll have your pick of back country sites as many of us hang it up in mid May due to the heat :)
Welcome to the club. The RR is my go to hammock for comfort and ease of setup.
I sunk a 4x6 in the ground 16 feet from a tree and used this so I can put it up and take it down. Works perfectly for my Warbonnet RR hammock. I put the pole up when not in use....
Mind the gap. If there's any wind and a gap it doesn't matter if you have a -30° under quilt it simply can keep the wind from eating the warmth. This is the main reason I only winter camp in my...
This is so true especially if you have a bridge hammock. All the others are simply not wide enough for any windy conditions.
I own both and like the XLC but I simply never use it any longer since getting my RidgeRunner. I've been using it for several years and it's simply the only hammock I now use. I got so tired of...
That's just the nature of a top quilt. I too get wide quilts to help with this issue as I flop like a fish on a dock when I sleep.
I guess I wasn't a good boy this year as I got nothing outdoor related but I did get a new tool chest :)
A warm one ;)
I didn't realize that Scorpions lived in Alabama. I've never seen on here in Huntsville.
It depends on what your definition of ample coverage is. In nice weather - yes. In stormy weather with wind and cold - no. The Palace is bare minimum for me in fall/winter/early spring hanging. I...
I had this so I ordered beefier rings from Amazon and I've not had this issue since.
If you are worried then get a or make a continuous ridge line and that worry is gone.
Wise choice. You'll love Georges quilts as they are not only warm but works of art as well.
For me in Alabama I've gotten to 13°F in windy conditions and my 0° Lynx under quilt and 0° Loco Libre top quilt were as warm as could be. I'd highly recommend an under quilt designed to fit your...
Who told you that?
All it takes is one rainy trip with blowing rain in the cold fall/winter and your decision will become easier :) For me and my Warbonnet Ridge runner it's a 12 ft tarp with doors and a lot of...
Pointy end down here as well. I've seen pics of pointy end up and a big wind come and pointy end goes through tarp. Ouch!
Yep it's a knot. It hard to make out which one without knowing how it tied and I can't figure that out based on the pic.
As my wife says, your doing something wrong :) I fought this battle for years and finally gave up and got a Warbonnet Ridgerunner where the under quilt has 4 connections and your done. Keep at it...
Welcome to the forums. Check out Hammock Gear, Warbonnet Outdoors, dutchwaregear and others for some excellent high quality light tarps.
Hey John long time no hear from. Hope you're doing well. For me the CF tarps are good in late fall and winter when the coverage is needed and I opted for the palace as the Hammock Gear non palace...
An update. I just got to use these bumper guards from HomeDepot and I love them. I've broken so many of the tube style that I wanted to give these a try and I really like them. Now to device a...
