He’ll stick it out in the spring time for sure. Did you make it back from LA in time for this last bit of snow?
No snow prior to setting up. We got some of those same winds and it blew snow under my setup.

It does always seem like Pisgah is full of people. The close proximity to Asheville is likely the cause. Not as many trail options in the Nantahala, but you’re just about guaranteed solitude...
Had you been able to dispatch a few hogs, it may have been a perfect trip! They’re a real nuisance.

Good stuff. I’ve wanted to take a trip up that way for years. I once worked with a guy on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico that was a Yooper. He never shut up about the place [emoji23]
I’m on fifty acres here and my son and I took a walk into our woods to set up for a quick overnight in anticipation of the snow. It hovered around 24 degrees for most of the night and began dropping...
Should be a good time. I’m sure if they plan to stay, they’ll bring food for themselves at least. Wish I could make it.
Just a heads up, someone is posting about this hang on Tigerdroppings. Y’all may have more than expected stop by.
Who’s making the pastalaya?
Warbonnet or Dutchware Chameleon are always my go to choices. The 1.6 from Dutch is rated to 350 lbs I believe and is very comfortable. You really can’t go wrong these days.

I see that the board is titled off-topic, but it looks like all discussion is still related to hammocks in the sub topics [emoji23] Unless I just can’t access every sub forum through Tapatalk.

There are many interesting people here with many differing hobbies and interests. I’m sitting here smoking a cigar and drinking some coffee on this cold North Carolina morning and thought wouldn’t it...
Ed Speer. Wow, that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time! I’ve got his book somewhere around here also.

I lurked for a while before I finally joined in either late 2011 or early 2012. I lost my original account after going silent in 2015, but I can remember that time period really being exciting for...
I went by Shotgunwillie as far as I can remember. May have had some numbers at the end, but I’m not sure. I was pretty active around 2012-2015. My son was born in 2015 and my priorities shifted as...
Longevity is the true value from cottage vendors, IMO. You just don’t get that quality from big box stores or Amazon Chinese purchases.

Shug got me started a decade ago in hammocks through one of his trip videos and funny enough, it was one of his BBQ videos I came across on a college football forum that sent me back down the rabbit...
What job can I get that requires hammock camping?

I just posted in the Wilderness Logics thread about my decade old Tadpole still being in excellent condition. That was my very first tarp and I wasn’t exactly gentle with it. It still works as...
Two year old thread, but I just re-entered the hammock camping world and am saddened to hear this news. Marty provided me with my first ever tarp, the WL Tadpole. I still have it, almost a decade...
I’ll toss out a local secret that’s a bit of a hidden gem in WNC. Take your boys to Fires Creek in Clay County. If you’re looking for seclusion, Fires Creek during the week is it. Campsites are very...
I guess us hammockers finally made the mainstream [emoji23]

Saying hello from about as far west of you in NC as you can get!
I was a frequent visitor of this site many years ago, but life became more and more busy and I found myself with less time for online forums and sadly less time for the piney woods. Things have...
