Whoopies are next to impossible to release when they are tensioned. The other day I pulled my slings on my hammock tight to get it up out of the way. I thought I was going to have to cut one to get...
It has worked for me before to run my finger underneath the silnylon on a cold morning. It cracks apart and flakes off.
I did a 30 day hike in June and July with a 0deg UQ. There were only three nights I slid it off to the side. I'm also a cold sleeper and I say go for it. It may be more than you need but then just...
I got my incubator a couple years ago so I'm not sure how much it has changed. I used it for about six months thinking it was cool. Then I cranked the shock cord tight and was all like "wow, it feels...

I think it is a good idea to teach your dog not to go ahead of you on the trail, even if off leash.
Once you get a solid come, stay, and heal command going, start practicing around distractions. ...
I always figure 8 up my guy lines and finish with a clove hitch. Every once in a while it shakes loose. I have had an awful time in the wind with frozen fingers and a mason line rats nest, just...
Glad you had a good trip. Soon you will come to love the sound of rain on your tarp as it keeps you nice and dry. My first hammock was a byers too. Gotta love the BWCAW in August. Thanks for sharing.
I have to thank forum member XexorZ for getting me started. After reading his thread about using cattails as a down alternative, I went out and got my first thread injector. I made alot of stuff...
I love it. It always makes me sad when my tarp covers up a starry night. Looks like I have another project on "the list". Thanks for sharing.
I am completely stakeless. I have only had to make a wood stake once or twice in the last two years. I guess it depends on where you go camping. In northern Minnesota there is always something to tie...
I use a full length winter under quilt all but about two weeks of the year. I guess I'm a cold sleeper.
Thanks for the replys all. I put in an order with wildernesslogics.
I just went to put in a order at hammockgear but they are sold out. Maybe someone has some extra floating around. If I did my math right (probably not) I only need 1.4oz. Thanks
I also didn't like the pad under my feet. I recently switched to a full length and would say I am much more comfortable with it. I sleep really cold so for me the extra weight is worth it.
A...
That was one of my favorite hanging spots. Heres a couple more pix of it.

I'm not sure what I did but I think the pics are working now. I love to hang on a hill just cause I can.
I'm guessing the campsites on the map are indeed commercial. The pic of the shelter was the...
Looking mighty comfy in your new hammock. I used the same material for mine, its been serving me well. Did you sew a channel to run your whoopies through the end? It looks like a neat and clean...
I was hiking in some cheap imatation keen sandals. They were great for drying fast after water crossings and rain. I barefoot alot so I thought I would be alright. Oh well, lesson learned. Had a good...
I took a bunch of time off work to head north into the woods, with plans of hiking the entire superior hiking trail. My dog and I set off from hinckley on the Willard Munger trail because that was...
Blackbird and Superfly are sold.

I hope I don't regret this too much but here goes
sold - Warbonnet Blackbird 1.1 double. It's about a year old. It has the tri-rings and strap suspention. I lit up inside it one night, for I was a...

The only danger a theif would be in is getting licked in the face, but so far no ones tried anything.
I got 200ft last week. shipping was very fast. I dig black whoopies. thanks
These must be selling like hotcakes. I just called the bridgewater mall store and the lady said they only had XXL left. It's the same in all the minnesota stores too.
Hello Chees,
Your setup should work fine. I used to go the same way. The biggest drawback I've found is that to keep from slipping, the ridge line needs to be twice the thickness of the...
I just ordered some black sil from them last night. The guy I talked to said I got the last 10 yards. Happy gear making
I was planning on making myself a quilt, but my time to go hiking is rapidly approaching. PM sent
PM sent for the down.
great deal. I just ordered a year. Thanks for sharing.
Got any pics? Did you find it necessary to attach to the ridgeline at all?
I'm about to attempt something similar. I'm tired of searching for the zipper in the dark when I want to get out fast.
My dog is around 80lbs. He has ripped two hammocks with his nails. Both hammocks were single layer light weight material. Now days I make sure he is on top of the blanket or I roll him in so his...
The last head I opened exploded alot more than the first ones I used. Maybe I picked some that weren't ready.
All I did to dry em was leave them in the shed for 5 months. More processing might make...

This site has alot of info on it.
Last year we went in on Kawishiwi Lake and paddled to Sawbill Lake. This would be a good trip for your time...
This is my first diy project. Mostly for sewing practice and trying out cattail insulation. I put one baffle cutting this thing in half horizontally. It takes a little more work to get it to fluff up...
Finally decided, yes I need one. I didn't see where to put my hf name, so I didn't. I'm getting buff.
Yea thats kind of what I expected to hear. I think I will have to put it off until next year. My dog looks alot like a deer. I also wouldn't want to get stuck on a mountain and have to eat him....
I've been planing to thru hike the pct this year but obligations won't let me to the trail head until august. I'd be going south so I think my biggest concern would be winter storms in Northern...
I made myself a J. Falk's 4 in 1 cat stove. I like the flame control it allows. It made perfect pancakes for breakfast. Haven't done much testing yet but I think my penny stove burns cleaner and...
Good Idea. I think they are called lynch pins. Definitely peace of mind knowing they won't slip out. I usually use twigs I find on the ground and sometimes wonder if they'll hold.
I used to flip the hammock upside down and put a blanket in the bugnet. You might be able to do the same with a pad. Of course, this doesn't work when you need the bugnet over you.
Webbing or rope works fine with rings, just remember to back it up with a slippery half hitch against the rings or they will slip.
I like to use a channel to gather the ends of my hammocks, but I...
His new searies just ended. Its called Northern Wilderness. Very Cool.
Alcohol stoves are also nice for stealthyness because they are almost silent. I rode a bicycle around lake superior with a MSR Dragonfly. I thought I was gonna be busted every time I fired it up....
Nice report. Sounds like a good night out. My feet are always cold too.
Hi No p55,
I've got relatives in Benson, the Searcy's.
I think you will like the black bird on the superoir hiking hiking trail. It sure worked out well for me last summer. I'm hoping to get back...
That is a great trick. I'm having fun now doing barrel rolls.
I usually don't use a ridgeline, but I'm thinking of putting one under the tarp. The reinforcment sounds good but mostly because I need a spot to hang my pants when they get wet.
I've tried a few times but it always ends up flipping over on itself. It still held but is very difficult to remove. Maybe a half hitch on the tail would stop this from happening?
