Looked like a deer, maybe. We ran into the ranger that grabbed him the next day and they were trying to chip-track the owners. He really was a sweet, well trained dog.

Took the trip this past July. It was an amazing trail. I can't wait to do it again.

This last weekend I struggled to get my tarp staked to the ground. The duff was so thick I couldn't even dig down enough.

Other than rocks and such, how do you all deal with ground that's too...

Habit. I usually backpack in bear and critter country so it's just good practice. No real reason out there, though, but like I said, it's a habit.

Used the JRB Hudson River as an underquilt then put my Greylock 3 under that (with the underquilt protector covering it all up). Used a zero degree sleeping bag as a top quilt and...

Weather report says it could go down to 15 degrees. I would rather be safe than miserable. But I may just do the hot water bottle trick instead. Thanks for your input!

Just got a blackbird and superfly and am very stoked for the season to start.

I don't understand why a company would sell a tarp that wasn't waterproof.

If it needs to be sealed in any way why do they leave it to the user to do so?
